শুধু তোমারই জন্যে — Only for You

Only for You Bengali poem about selfless love

Introduction

There are some feelings that ask for nothing in return.

They are not measured by promises, possessions, or expectations. They simply exist -quietly, sincerely, and wholeheartedly – for someone who has touched the deepest corners of the heart.

“শুধু তোমারই জন্যে — Only for You” is a poem shaped by such a feeling. It is an offering of love, light, goodwill, and hope. Through the changing images of night, dawn, rain, and the journey of life, the speaker leaves behind something precious for another soul – not to claim, but simply to give.

There is a beautiful freedom in this act of giving. The beloved is invited to receive these offerings if they wish, to keep them safely within the heart, or even to quietly pass them by. Nothing is demanded in return.

The poem moves gently from the darkness of night toward the whiteness of dawn, from the murmuring of rain toward a vision of renewal. At its heart lies a simple yet profound wish: that love may become a source of goodness, and that the beloved may find peace beyond the confusion and burdens of the world.

Perhaps the purest love is not always about being remembered.

Sometimes, it is simply about leaving behind something beautiful –

only for you.

English Translation

“Only for You”

Beneath the mantle of night, for you –
only for you – I have left behind
a handful of pure and steadfast love.
If your heart desires, take it in your hands
and keep it gently within the chambers of your heart.

In the pure whiteness of dawn, only for you,
I have woven a fleeting glimpse
of the tender enchantment of morning light.
If ever you find it, touch it in solitude;
I promise, I shall never ask
whether you did.

Behind the soft murmur of tinkling rain,
with nothing but wishes for your well-being,
I have painted the tremor of a cooling stream.
If you can understand it,
feel its pulse within your heart.
The earth itself will be blessed
by your deliverance.

Intoxicated by the fragrance you leave behind,
a gentle breeze will flow through my perfumed soul;
and with that alone, I shall journey through a lifetime.

You need only sweep away
the debris of this troubled world,
make this universe sacred and pure,
and tread beyond
the tangled web of illusion.

A Love That Asks for Nothing

The Quiet Beauty of Giving

One of the most touching aspects of “Only for You” is that its love does not come with a demand.

The speaker leaves behind love beneath the darkness of night and invites the beloved to take it only if they wish. Even then, there is no request for acknowledgement. The beloved may keep that love safely within the heart, but the speaker does not ask for anything in return.

This gives the poem a quiet dignity.

Love is often associated with expectation. We want to be remembered, understood, loved in return, and reassured of our place in another person’s life. Yet there are feelings that rise beyond such expectations. They simply wish to give.

Here, love becomes an offering.

A handful of pure love is placed gently before another heart. What happens next belongs entirely to that person.

And perhaps that is what makes the gesture so beautiful.

The Light of a New Dawn

Hope Woven into Morning

The poem then moves from the darkness of night into the purity of dawn.

The speaker weaves a glimpse of sweet morning light exclusively for the beloved. Dawn becomes more than a time of day; it represents hope, renewal, and the possibility of a new beginning.

Yet once again, nothing is demanded.

If the beloved finds that light, they may touch it privately. The speaker promises never to ask whether it was found. There is great tenderness in this promise.

Some gifts are most beautiful when they are given without waiting for confirmation that they have been received.

Conclusion

At its heart, “Only for You” is a poem about selfless love.

Its speaker leaves behind love in the night, light in the dawn, blessings in the rain, and the fragrance of memory for the journey ahead. Yet the poem gradually becomes something larger than a simple expression of romantic affection.

It carries a wish for the beloved’s well-being, and ultimately, a wish for a better world.

The final lines invite us to move beyond the debris and confusion of earthly life, to overcome illusion, and to make the universe more sacred through goodness.

Perhaps this is the poem’s most beautiful message: love can begin with one person, but its light does not have to end there.

A heart that truly wishes goodness for another may also wish goodness for the entire world.

And so, the poem remains an offering –

of love,
of light,
of hope,
and of blessings.

Only for you.
