মাঝে মাঝেই ভাবনার অতলে হারিয়ে যাই –
অস্থিরতা যখন গ্রাস করে ভীষণ উদগীরণে!
কিছুতেই কিছুতে মনোনিবেশ করতে পারিনে,
ছুটে পালাবার পথ খুঁজে ফিরে প্রাণ, নির্জনে!

When Restlessness Takes Hold
At times I lose myself in the depths of thought –
when restlessness consumes me in a raging tide.
I cannot focus my mind on anything at all,
while my soul searches for some secluded place to hide.
পৃথিবী গতিময়
পাগল প্রাণ! বুঝেও বুঝে না অবুঝ এই হৃদয় –
আমার অস্থিরতায় কি বা যায় আসে পৃথিবীর!
পৃথিবীর গতি তার আপনারই প্রণয়েই সিক্ত,
আমার দুরাশায় কেনই বা হবে এতোটুকু অধীর!

The World Goes On
O foolish heart! You understand, yet remain unaware –
what difference does my restlessness make to the world?
The world moves on, immersed in its own eternal rhythm;
why should my vain longings make it pause, disturbed?
শুধু তুমি যদি হেসে বলো কথা
তবে জানো কি, পার্থিবতার এই শৃঙ্খল মাঝে –
শুধু তুমি যদি হেসে বলো কথা আমারই সাথে,
পৃথিবীর সমস্ত দুরাশা হয়ে যায় অচল-স্থির,
আর আকাশ নীলে ভেসে উঠে ধ্রুবতারা প্রাতে!

When You Speak to Me
But do you know? Amid these chains of earthly life,
if only you would smile and speak a word to me,
All the restless longings of the world fall still,
and the blue morning sky awakens with the Morning Star.
নাম না-জানা প্রাণ
আমিও এক গহীন অরণ্যের নাম না-জানা প্রাণ!
তোমাকেই খুঁজি, প্রাণের বাধনে যদিও তুমিই!
আমার সমস্ত অন্তরের ক্রন্দন ছাপিয়ে কেবলই,
রাত্রি ভোর গোধুলী শুনি, তোমারই নামের ধ্বনি!

The Nameless Soul
I, too, am a nameless creature in a deep, dark forest –
and still I search for you, though you are bound within my soul.
Rising above the cries that echo through my heart,
I hear only the sound of your name – from night to dawn, through twilight’s glow.
